Appointments

Routine appointments

For appointments please ring 01634 360486 or 01634 377817. Alternatively you can contact a Doctor online using our online triage form (eConsult).

If your condition is non-urgent you can expect to see a GP within five working days although you may have to wait longer if you want to see a particular GP.

If you don’t need an appointment within five working days you have the option to book up to two weeks in advance. You can normally expect to see a nurse within one week.

Tell us if you require a nurse chaperone or someone else to accompany you during an examination, or if you need a private room to discuss any matters.

Cancelling your appointment

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

Please remember, you can help us by:

  • Being on time for your appointment
  • Letting us know if you need to cancel your appointment

Consult with a Doctor online

If you would like to contact a Doctor online, you may use our Online Consultation form (eConsult).

When accessing the eConsult platform, patients are asked a series of questions to determine the best course of action.  If contact with the GP practice is the most appropriate route, the request will come through directly to the surgery for the team to action accordingly.

The time in which the surgery should respond is determined by the nature of the patient’s problem or request.

Extended access

For patients who have difficulty accessing the surgery during core opening hours (08:30 hours – 18:30 hours), our Medway Rainham PCN offer extended access for routine appointments on weekday evenings between 18:30 hours – 20:00 hours and Saturdays between 09:00 hours – 17:00 hours for both face to face and telephone appointments.

These appointments can be with a range of healthcare professionals such as GPs, Paramedics, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurses and Pharmacists.

Face to face appointments will be held at either Long Catlis Road Surgery, Wigmore Medical Practice or Parkwood Family Practice on weekdays and Balmoral Gardens Healthy Living Centre on Saturdays.

All appointments can be booked in the usual manner by contacting the surgery during normal working hours.   The out of hours service will still operate during this time.   If you need to cancel an extended access appointment, you must do this during normal surgery opening hours.

Home visits

We ask our patients to come to the practice if at all possible.  At the surgery you can be examined in an environment that is better equipped and therefore safer for you.  Also our doctors can see up to four patients in the surgery in the time it takes to do one home visit.  However we can visit you at home if your condition means you cannot come in.  If possible please try to telephone reception between 08:30 and 11:00 if you do require a home visit.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
